An eight-year-old girl is fighting for her life after a horror crash at Perth Motorplex.
Anita Broad was racing in the junior dragster category on Saturday afternoon when she failed to stop, lost control and smashed into a cement barrier.
It's understood paramedics were on standby for the event, and immediately ran to the site of the crash.
The event was paused for around two hours while paramedics and police attended to the girl, and the Motorplex issued a statement informing race-goers of the incident.
"Unfortunately an incident occurred during racing at Perth Motorplex this afternoon and a driver has been taken to hospital," a spokesperson said.
"Police are currently at the scene and on their advice racing has been suspended until further notice.
"We thank all patrons and participants for their patience and understanding.
"Our thoughts are with the driver and their family."
Anita received life-threatening injuries in the crash and was rushed to Rockingham Hospital for assessment.
She was then urgently transferred to Princess Margaret Hospital on priority and she remains in a critical condition.
Racing resumed around two hours after the accident, and punters reached out through social media to offer their support.
