Liverpool ace Daniel Sturridge surprisingly snubbed Luis Suarez when naming his ultimate XI of stars he has played with and against down the years.

Sturridge and Suarez scored 52 goals between them as Liverpool came close to winning the Premier League title at Anfield back in 2013/14 and the Uruguayan striker was named PFA Player of the Year.

The England forward, though, named ex-Chelsea team-mate Nicolas Anelka alongside Didier Drogba in his dream team, fueling rumours of tension with Suarez during their time together on Merseyside.

‘Growing up, I was an Arsenal fan and Anelka was my favourite striker at the time so I’ve got an affinity to him,’ Sturridge told Liverpool’s official YouTube channel.

‘He helped me out a lot and gave me a lot of advice. I love the way he plays the game – he’s just so elegant on the pitch.

‘The way he ran, the way he passed the ball, the way he used to chop defenders which is something that I took from him.

Sturridge believes Anelka, who he played with for three years at Stamford Bridge, had ‘everything’ in his locker.

‘He’s probably the best player I’ve seen at faking to shoot to create himself a yard which, in the box, is everything as a striker,’ he explained.
